I know my gallery is massive. But there is something for everyone!! I have Photography- Macro, Portraits to Vintage Cars, Jewelry/Other Crafts then to drawings and paintings. As an artist, I am scattered everywhere. Through out several mediums at one time. Jumping from one to another, it works for me so I go with the flow <3

Work that I find interesting & extremely inspiring!

First off, I answer all comments, watches & notes. But favorites, I just cannot thank people for them anymore, I get way too many on a daily basis. I appreciate every single one though!!!

What kind of camera do you use?
A SONY DSLR - A390 with 18-55mm lens + a Sigma 70-300mm. A set of Extension tubes and several Macro Filters. Also a Kodak Easyshare. No actual macro lens, yet. It's not about the camera, it's about the person using it. Two people can own the same camera but yet they get different results. And THAT's photography!

What programs do you use?
I never shop my fuckin work. I seriously have never even used photoshop before. I don't even own it. Instead I use Photoscape, It's simple and does all that I require. Such as sharpening, lovely frames, etc. If shopping is what you like to do, wonderful :] It's just not what I need nor use. So, everything you see in my photos is actually there. NEVER added into the photo afterwards like a lot of people like to assume happens. Which is really annoying when its achieved the old fashion way. Hard work & practice.

How long have you been doing photography?
10yrs now. I just do what I like and I follow that instinct. I am very thankful for the experience I do have. Practice, patience, passion and experience really are the keys to it really, to everything actually. I don't listen to what others say is the right way to do Photography and the wrong way- because that is a bunch of bullshit. I have learned that you have to be able to stand your own in this business, you must be able to believe in your work in order to stand for it and fight for it. One must develop their own style, in which they feel confident enough to soar without being knocked over by the weak.

Have you had any schooling?
No, I am completely self taught, in all the mediums I use.

How many tattoos do you have?
I consider this a personal question because even though my tattoos show, they are mine and are very personal to me. I really don't know anymore, once I started connecting them to each other I have lost count. I find this to be an odd question b u t I do get asked it a lot. Simpy put- Instead of small tattoos everywhere, I have full pieces with more on the way. Most of tattoos are hidden 100% of time, I get them for myself anyways, so no one needs to see them but me.

Can I use your photo(s) as a reference for a drawing/painting?
Yes! And you don't need to ask me. All I ask & expect is to get a link to your work, because I would love to see it. This is where this request ends. I do not & will not take custom photos for you. If I did, I require payment.

How do you make your fake blood?
Since I make it myself, I do not share my recipe. It was hard
Work getting the right look, I will not give it out for free. I decided to share this very tastey recipe. Go here to see & read:

Why do you put writing/watermark on your images?
Watermarks protect your work the best. Bottom line. And also, because I have had my work stolen & claimed as another persons work and also I have seen my work on other sites, without my permission. Its my work and I want to protect it the best I can. Art theft is very easy when you put it on the internet. But I like that my work is shared a lot. It means that outside dA my work is liked. Watermark through my images are for Internet purposes only! Clients who buy prints of my work do not get images with watermarks, but anything I upload anywhere, gets a watermark or 3.

Hello everyone!! :D

I'm sorry I haven't been very active. I only would sign on for a little bit, upload photos if I had the time but I mainly signed on to maintain my groups, approve works, find/search for new works & members, etc. But I won't be busy like I was for awhile- not until next year at the soonest. I was making jewelry for a local store/shop, well things didn't go good at all. It was a shitty and rude experience to be honest.

It has been snowing all week. And more snow is planned for the weekend. I am excited because I want to get my Macro snowflake on, lol. And I bought expensive Black Velvet from work, I got it 50% off too!! Plus, I got a piece of Gallery Glass from the Frame shop, I am good friends with both of the Custom Framers at work but closer with one more, I asked her for a piece of glass (for catching Snowflakes) and she came through with a piece for me. Gallery Glass is the best kinda glass for framing pictures, you cannot even tell its there!! So, I cannot wait to test out the Gallery Glass and the black velvet together with some falling snow.

B u t I am happy things didn't work out, I personally don't think my works should be sold for so damn cheap, when I put so much time/work into them. I am not meaning to sell things for "whoa expensive" but the prices the owner was saying were absurd and insulting. I sold him 4 sets of pretty skull earrings for $2 so he could supposedly sell them for $4. But the store is so expensively priced, that I have never seen something cost $4 let alone in their jewelry department. But I am not worried. I have been wanting to get a booth somewhere- at an art show of course, the one I talked about back a few months ago- I was too late for that one. That time, I was too late, so I plan to look them up and just plan everything out. Around here they happen more in the Spring and Fall. There is an option to get a booth a local place, that I can have my very own space, with my name, etc. With everything I make and sell, one day a weekend. There are a few places like this where I live, I wanted to try this store first. I know the value of my work. So, I am happy I didn't let well made pieces go for dirt cheap, to low-ball me. I don't overcharge but I give a price I am willing to pay. Idk how many times well known stores, like Hot Topic, Target etc sell jewelry that my friends & family buy, that break, they bring them to me to fix. My friend had this problem, thought it was hopeless, paid almost 20 bucks for this set, a bracelet that was made on shit string, a necklace that needed to be fixed because it stabbed  her whenever she put it on & the little fake but pretty stud popped out of one of the earrings. I fixed everything, in less than 20 minutes. Things sold in stores are cheaply made- I know this. I look in stores, not buying anything but knowing I do a better job. Maybe it comes down to the fact that I truly l o v e to make jewelry. It is very soothing hobby!!!

Whoa, that was a long paragraph. SO sorry about that. But anyone who knows me knows this is something I am passionate about so my words often run away with me, in my journals.

Next, I am looking for artists who are interested in joining my groups to become a Contributor. I am looking for Artists who are willing to join to simply share their art, nothing else. I run e v e r y single one of my groups myself. No one else helps me. I vote, look for new works, search out new members, update the group. I keep everything on track. So, all I require out of every single one of my Contributors is that they share their amazing works within the group. I have 5 groups and although I am looking for Contributors & Members for all of my groups, I am mainly looking for those two for my top 3 groups- the groups that take up MOST of my time & effort. But I would love for my two other groups to grow as well.

:bulletyellow; With this group, I am looking for Contributors who have a lot of work to show. When I say this, I am not asking to see every photo from someone's gallery during the voting process, this is a no. When I say this I mean, I don't want to see one subject. Because when someone submits 10 photos of the same thing, only 1 or 2 will be accepted. I want a variety of subjects, I never want the watchers to get bored. I want EVERY subject. Everything is accepted here. Meaning subject- but quality means a lot here. Plus, Artist style and direction are foundations this group was built on. So snap shots or random shots that do not hold any Artist beauty will not be accepted. Which is my biggest problem these days. With this group, Contributors who show everything that they do have to offer, seems to be hard to come by.

Members: 850.
Watchers:  894.
:bulletyellow: My Portrait group has grown so damn much- I am very proud of the Contributors I already have for this group. Some amazingly talented Photographers. But as I stated for my PhotographyInspireMe group above, I would love to see a variety of Portraits to flow through the groups gallery. I don't want to see a member submit nothing but self portraits or just cosplay portraits. There must be more Portraits that one can Contribute. Plus, well taken Portraits are a must. Now, I am not just speaking about quality. But also style, ideas, models, etc. Anything that is a little more creative than the run-of-the mill portrait.

:bulletyellow: My Macro group was the first group I ever started. And it is my "baby" of sorts for that reason. It has grown so much. And I am happy to say, people really love my Macro group. The one thing I know most people don't like, is that I am picky and will not accept SMALL file size photos. Macro is about showing the smaller size of life and I am sorry, a square of a photo, that is only one small size, isn't going to show any Macro beauty  So, this is why I am asking here, I would like more members & Contributors who read the rules and that know that their work follows said rules. Its not hard at all. But this is my biggest problem with new members. They join but do not read rules then get mad at me. I know there are plenty of Macro Photographers out there who are perfect for my group. That shoot all subjects that show Macro details, not just one thing over and over again. Not desired.

Members: 169.
Watchers: 174.
:bulletyellow:  This group was made to host anything creative, made by yourself and unique. If it has been seen a thousand times before, something you saw and recreated, copied and claimed as your own- those do not fly here. But if you do a lot of crafting and love to craft. Then you have found the perfect group. Artisan Crafts are welcome, everything that falls into that category. I also want the same things, variety. If all you make is one thing, then this isn't the group for you. Because 10 photos of the same thing won't be accepted- only 1 photo will be accepted. Several different angles of said object doesn't count as showing variety. Work that shows creativity, passion, style and good photos showing the crafts details perfectly.

Members: 57.
Watchers: 70.
:bulletyellow: This is my newest group. It is about finding beautiful designs that are so stunning, they are skin worthy. They deserve to be tattooed and kept forever. A lot of new members are inspiring tattoo artists but that is not what I am only looking for. I desire designs of all kinds. Not just tattoo designs. Simple drawings that are unique and beautiful. There are so many tattoo designs that I have seen over and over again, even if its drawn beautifully, it won't be accepted if everyone has seen it before. It must be different, creative. Skin worthy.

:star: So, if anyone thinks that they would love to be apart of any of my groups, please either join as a member, if that is what is desired, watch the group to see featured works in your inbox or send me GrotesqueDarling13 a note with reasons why you want to be a Contributor and include a link of your gallery. Or with a selection of your favorite works. I will go through reasons & gallery and reply with a response. But if you aren't what I am looking for in a Contributor, I will send you a request to join as a Member. And please take no offense if I do this. I do not mean to offend, its just that certain deviants are more qualified

I have so many groups, because I take great pride in them all. I love seeing the group grow and change. i love seeing the works the members submit. And the fact that deviants really love the groups I give them, means so much more then I thought it would. Groups take a lot of work to run, from the very first day to the 2 year mark. And I strive my hardest to give the people of dA a fair group. A good group. I am saying this, because I have been having a lot of problems with groups here on dA. A few examples, maybe some of you have had these same issues also. I was apart of a group a month ago or so, it was a Macro group. And they requested me to be apart of the group. But every single time I submitted something, they would decline it, never giving me a reason. The 6th time it happened. I asked and it took almost a week to get a reply. And the reason was SO, so stupid. "I don't like the colors you used in this photo, the colors don't go well together. Maybe you should look into what colors go together before you submit here." Whhhhaaat? That is a matter of opinion. And that was the reason for decling every piece I had submitted? I am sorry, if you are going to run a group like that, then you better state: "you can follow the rules but if I don't like it, it won't be accepted" because that is the real story. Fuck the rules. Its about whether that chick liked it or not. And after a few situations like that from other groups, I have realized a lot of people start/join as Admin is to just say no to works because they can. That is uber shitty. I know everyone has different tastes and likes. So I accept everything, as long as it follows the rules of said group- if I don't like the colors in the photo, I still accept the photo, it doesn't matter what I like or don't like. As long as it follows the rules, it SHOULD be accepted. Another example, I was in a bokeh group, and had submitted a piece, it was declined. I asked for the reason and they were ripping apart every other aspect of the photo but nothing about the bokeh, that was the point of the group, bokeh. But yet the Admin felt the need to go over the line and rude for no reason, when I asked, "Can I know why this photo was declined?" And she went off, giving me a paragraph that talked nothing about the bokeh. Everything but. When people ask me in my groups, why their photo was declined. I explain in detail exactly why. Not being rude for no reason, not ripping apart someones work for no reason. It is something I will not tolerate. Just rudeness from other deviants, like they are better then other deviants. Like who the fuck are you? And all I did was ask a question, that was over the line. Which is the direction I see a lot of groups going in.

(So sorry for such a long journal. But I had a lot to say with this one!! Mainly with a lot of group stuff.) I usually don't write lengthy Journals anymore, so it felt good!

Lately, I have been getting more into money Macro- would anyone be willing to send me your change? I will in turn take several Macro photos of them and credit you fully for the object of my newest interest!! :giggle:

5 deviants said No, but that is cool you are asking.
3 deviants said Other/Maybe/comment.
2 deviants said Yes, I would so be willing to!!

About Me

I have been an artist since the day I was born.
My work goes where my mood takes me, so I often
Jump from medium to medium… from ink to photo,
To beads, painting to sewing, everything is an interest.
I’m extremely passionate, organized & my visions are clear.
I listen to my heart, my purpose in life is to create and at
The end of the day I do it all for myself. Because it makes
Me happy and it’s my therapy in a world that is fuckin crazy.

I am completely and 100% self taught. Years of practice & love. I am not a professional by normal standards even though my friends and family will say otherwise. All I have are years of experience under my belt, so most of the time I know what I am doing. I know what I can do and I know what I can’t do. Plus, I know My style and I am confident within it that I don’t feel the need to prove myself or my catalogue of work to anyone. I am still learning New things every day, so I don’t think I am better then anyone.

So far I think I am doing pretty good for myself. I’ve worked on a few low key college films & commercials and then Hostel Part 3. Now I have some lovely contacts in movies and music, which is a plus. Even though I don’t do a lot of make-up anymore, it’s still a passion. I haven’t forgotten it completely, it’s what got my foot in the door. I have been selling my Photography & Other/All artwork for 2yrs now. It’s a very freeing thing to be able to sell what makes my heart beat. And others love it enough to buy it, I'm thankful!

I never wanted to be an artist, I always just was one.

Friends & Inspirations

These are the artists & friends that I love so very much, the ones that inspire me, the ones who help me to keep going, the ones that helped to make me the artist/person I am today. Special artists that are in my heart

Extra Info

:bulletred: Even though my name on dA is GrotesqueDarling13, this is not my business name. I never changed it because this is who I am known as on the net, people know it and can google it easy to find my work. My business name for my Photography is Yes Darling Photography© and the name I sell all my other Artwork by is GrotesqueDarling13 or GD13.

:bulletred: I consider myself to be close to professional standards with mostly all the mediums I work in/with because of all the experience I have had on my own and in the business for companies and paying customers. I have explored every inch, absorbing and learning, getting better over time. I take my work seriously but I know how to have fun, whatever the subject may be. It's way more then a love or a passion, it's who I am, it's a need for my internal happiness.. to recharge my batteries.

:bulletred: I have a lot of pride & respect for my own work because I know where I started and the long journey I took to be where I am today. It wasn't easy by any means. But the past 10yrs has all been worth it. Getting as much practice & experience as possible is very important. Most of my time goes to my Photography and other Artwork. I'm an Artist by birth, not choice. It flows out from me naturally and at the end of the day I do it for myself, not to make money off of it. If that's your only reason for starting, Photography isn't for you. I have made money from my Photography before, from friends, strangers, companies, writers, etc. But even if I didn't, I'd still capture this world around me. It keeps me content, I like to capture e v e r y t h i n g & creating pretty things suit my interests.

Fuck YOUR Facebook!!

You are all very welcome for the faves & comments!! I love to support my fellow artists and their work. It helps us to grow. Feedback is very important!!!

But don't go and ruin it by...
BEGGING me to go like your facebook. I will like it if I actually like your work. I won't like it just because you are on my profile begging me to. I find this to be rude after all I did was FAVE a single goddamn piece. Please do not be that way. Accept the reality of my "No, thank you" and move on.

I don't like being spammed about liking peoples facebooks. This is deviantART and all people seem to care about is facebook. I don't prefer facebook over dA. I have a facebook, a business one and a personal one and they are not my life. I have a growing business without the help of facebook. So, if facebook is your thing to the point you spam people to like your page, with hollow meaningless likes because you yourself had to tell them to like it, then go you. Keep it to yourself is all I am asking.
